7 Wedding Dress Trends That Should Be on Your Radar (REPOST GLAMOUR)

Spring 2019 Bridal Trends:
1. A Sliver of Silver
Where there was an opportunity to sprinkle a gown with glitter or sequins, designers decided to buck convention in favor of a frosty silver finish. Mira Zwillinger's Queen of Ice theme translated to silver-threaded and mirror-embellished gowns; Theia's interpretation, meanwhile, included a gunmetal gown with fine lines of silver glitter in a brocade pattern. These types of shiny silver accents offer an alternative to plain white, without having to commit to a bright color.
2. Corset Tops
If any trend could replace "naked" gowns, it's probably the resurgence of corset tops. The bustier look appeared all over bridal collections known for their edge in the category—think Galia Lahav and Vivienne Westwood. These structured bodices are immediately reminiscent of lingerie, but their accompanying skirts balance out the look.
3. 3-D Florals
Florals, for bridal? We know. But rather than stick with printed or embroidered bouquets, Spring 2019's best wedding gowns feature textured floral appliqués that bloom off of the silhouette. Some takes on the trend include rivulets of cascading chiffon and feather petals over a full skirt; others opt to throw a large accent flower on a shoulder or hip, for a dramatic effect.
4. The Understatement Dress
If the OTT approach isn't your thing, designers such as Cristina Ottaviano, Amsale, and others have you covered. Many Spring 2019 bridal collections remind shoppers of the beauty in simple, understated gowns—those that are generally embellishment-free, with a clean silhouette and shape.
5. Short Fluttery Sleeves
Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen wedding dress inspired a long lace sleeve trend in the bridal space back in 2011; it appears that, finally, we're moving away from that—and cap sleeves are coming to occupy that space. Fluttery and fun, this accent was pretty much made for spring nuptials.
6. Ballerina Skirts
Inspired by the ballerina-esque Calvin Klein 205W39NYC skirt already worn by Millie Bobby Brown and Nicole Kidman on the red carpet? Good news: The voluminous, dramatic confection is coming down the aisle for Spring 2019. Straightforward takes on the trend feature a simple bodice offset by a long tutulike skirt; adventurous brides can consider avant-garde versions of varying lengths.
7. Bubble Sleeves
The puffy sleeves we've seen on spring blouses have migrated into wedding territory—and you may just consider wearing these wedding-white takes post nuptials. Sheer or solid, the Spring 2019 bridal riff fuses the dimension of a power shoulder with the ethereal textures you expect from wedding dresses.
